A SPACE is an exciting, different living concept
in the creative heart of Berlin.

The thought-out revítalization of one of the last loft buildlings at Arkonasquare in Berlins historical centre creates 60 unique loft apartments. Built around 1900, the four-storey building between Wolliner and Kremmener Strasse has always been a place of creative industries and crafts and will now become a new home for those who appreciate extraordinary things.

The former four-storey building will obtain a two-storey extension in the form of authentic factory lofts. The brickwork on the old facade will be exposed and whitewashed, allowing it to shine through with all of its glorious imperfections. The brickwork in the patio will be also preserved wherever possible. Whether commercial or residential, second home or penthouse loft, all of the spaces feature an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area that residents can arrange as they please. High ceilings, large wooden windows and plastered steel beams create the traditional loft ambience, while high quality wood, stone or ceramic provide an authentic, sophisticated look. All of the lofts feature underfloor heating, ensuring cosy warmth.

Most of the balconies and terraces in A SPACE face the expansive inner courtyard, which features separate green areas, seating and play areas. Carefully coordinated landscaping surrounded by cobblestone and granite will provide visual reference points and privacy for the ground-level terraces. A SPACE also has separate storage areas for each unit and a two-storey underground car park with 36 car parking spaces and six motorcycle spaces.

A brewery from 1897, the Arkonahöfe not only changed its use on several occasions in its history, but also its facade. A SPACE respectfully brings this historic industrial charm into the here and now. Traces of the past are not concealed, but rather carefully integrated. The former four-storey building will obtain a two-storey extension in the form of authentic factory lofts. The brickwork on the old facade will be exposed and whitewashed, allowing it to shine through with all of its glorious imperfections. The brickwork in the patio will be also preserved wherever possible.

Extensive demolition work is required for the new spatial concept of A SPACE. In order to bring the industrial buildings into the modern world, insulation measures are being taken and the home automation system is being completely overhauled.
